Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for one very exciting attacker as they look to strengthen their forward line.
Enzo Maresca is expected to bring in at least one new striker and one winger this summer when the transfer window opens.
The Chelsea Chronicle has been told that the Blues are the favourites to sign Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, so that would be the centre-forward position addressed.
As for the winger position, Jamie Gittens is the name that is being heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge at the moment.
Chelsea plotting talks to sign Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman
Earlier in the season, it was claimed that Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman is ready for a new challenge.
That is good news for Chelsea, with it being reported that the Blues are interested in signing the 27-year-old this summer.
In fact, according to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are one of several Premier League sides who are planning to hold talks with Lookman soon about a potential transfer.
Regarding how much Lookman could cost, the same outlet has claimed that Atalanta could demand up to €65m (£55.3m) for his signature.
The Nigeria international has mostly played as a second striker for the Italian club, but he can also be utilised on the wing, which is likely to appeal to Chelsea.
Lookman is having another strong campaign in Serie A, scoring 13 goals for Atalanta this term.
Ademola Lookman’s last two Serie A campaigns | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 28 | 13 | 5 |
2023/24 | 31 | 11 | 7 |
The arrival of Lookman could spell the end for Christopher Nkunku, who also likes to play as a second striker. Nkunku has been linked to Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.
Maresca, then, could give his attack a real shake up going into the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Ademola Lookman’s man-of-the-match performance in Europa League final
Lookman has already proven that he can do it on the biggest stage, scoring a hat-trick in last year’s Europa League final.
The former RB Leipzig man guided Atalanta to a 3-0 win against Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side, who finished the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign unbeaten.
That display alone would have convinced Chelsea scouts if they were watching, with Lookman proving to be unstoppable on the night.
Unsurprisingly, he was awarded UEFA’s Player of the Match award, dismantling a team that had not lost a league game all season.
