It remains to be seen if Chelsea are going to get their own way when it comes to signings in the summer transfer market.

The Blues may lose out on some of their top targets if they fail to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season, something which will be determined in their final game of the season against Nottingham Forest.

It has already been reported that Liam Delap wants to play Champions League football, which could see him prefer a move to Manchester United should they win the Europa League final this week.

As well as an attacker, a number of other positions are likely to be prioritised. One of the likely ones is left-back, with there currently no first team alternative to Marc Cucurella.

Dennis te Kloese warns Quilindschy Hartman about joining Chelsea

The Blues have previously held an interest in signing Feyenoord star Quilindschy Hartman, with Hartman admitting he would’ve loved to join Chelsea in the past.

When asked about the prospect of the Blues returning to the table for his player, club general manager Dennis te Kloese said that he hadn’t heard of any interest, however questioned whether a move would be best for his personal World Cup ambitions.

He said to Voetbal Primeur: “We’ll see in the coming weeks. It is a big consideration for him, also with a view to where he can still grow. The national coach is sitting here at the table and there will be a World Cup next year. Then that consideration must also be there whether it is a good time to take the next step. He will have to talk about that with his people. Of course, we are always in conversation.”

“No, because if they have reported to him, they have not yet reported to us. Last year, of course, that was a story that came up. In the end, that changed with that injury.

“He is an incredibly valued force with us and as a person I also appreciate him very much. But he has to reach a certain level to take that next step and then possibly play in the spotlight at the Orange again. Is now the time? He will have to consider that for himself.”

Who is Quilindschy Hartman?

Chelsea have no doubt been impressed by the 23-year-old’s attacking ability from left-back. He has 10 Eredivisie assists in 61 games.

Hartman’s season did not get underway this year until February, after he underwent knee surgery in the early stages of the season.

Signing the Dutchman would likely signal the end of Renato Veiga’s Chelsea career, with him currently on loan at Juventus.

The Portugal international has been a regular for the Serie A side, with Veiga’s wish of playing centre-back being granted there.
