Enzo Maresca has been discussing Moises Caicedo ahead of Chelsea’s Conference League game against Djurgarden on Thursday.

Caicedo just swooped up both the Chelsea Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards, showing just how good he has been this term.

As a result, the midfielder could be in line for a pay rise if reports are to be believed. The topic of a new contract was one subject that was brought up in Maresca‘s pre-match press conference.

While he did win the Players’ Player of the Season award, Caicedo thinks others at Chelsea could have won it instead of him.

Enzo Maresca suggests Moises Caicedo could sign new contract at end of season

With Champions League football not secured yet and silverware still at stake, Chelsea still have a lot to play for this season.

As a result, it does not look like Caicedo will be offered a new contract before the campaigns end. However, Maresca has not ruled out that happening once Chelsea’s duties are finished.

Speaking in his presser on Wednesday afternoon, the Chelsea manager said: “Moi is doing well since day one. He is working very hard and humble. The good thing about Moi is the way he behaves is that he is a good example for the teammates. In terms of contracts, I don’t know, now is not the time to talk about contracts. Let’s finish the season and decide at the end.”

Maresca cannot live without Caicedo, with the Ecuadorian making 41 appearances in all competitions this term.

It is the same for Cole Palmer as well. Palmer lauded Caicedo after Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Liverpool last weekend, claiming that it was a “dream” to play alongside his teammate.

Who Moises Caicedo voted for in Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season award

Caicedo voted for Nicolas Jackson in the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season award despite the striker’s inconsistent campaign.

Jackson only ended what was quite a long goal drought last month and has scored just 10 goals in the Premier League. But Caicedo has still been impressed it seems.

Jackson has been injured and is still quite young at 23, though. Hopefully he can find the kind of consistency that Caicedo has shown going forward.

Right now, Caicedo may be the most consistent midfielder in the Premier League. Defensively, there is probably not a better player in his position.
