Chelsea star Pedro Neto added more silverware to his collection as his Portugal side were crowned the Nations League champions with a win over Spain.
Neto started the Conference League final, however celebrated all four goals from the bench as the Blues launched a late barrage on Real Betis.
Sunday night’s international meeting saw the winger take on one of his club teammates in the form of Marc Cucurella.
Spanish media were critical of Cucurella, after stating that he wasn’t doing enough to impact the attacking side of his nation’s game.
Portuguese media praised Neto though for his work-rate and his direct attacking style which helped his nation particularly on the counter attack.
A Bola said: “Very quick-witted, not very clear-sighted, but very committed and, above all, always focused on the goal and on crosses.”
Neto was praised for his work in the semi-final win against Germany, and there was a substitute appearance in the final for Renato Veiga, with his Chelsea future currently unclear.
Neto was starting for his country ahead of Joao Felix, who spent the second half of the season on loan at AC Milan.
His rough time in Italy has made it difficult to imagine that a permanent deal will come Chelsea’s way this summer, leaving them a headache during the upcoming transfer window.
Neto wanted in Saudi Arabia
There have also been reports of interest in Neto from Saudi Arabia, with the Saudi Pro League looking to attract some of the world’s best players still in the prime of their career.
However, Chelsea are seen as unlikely to part ways with the winger after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
It is likely that clubs are going to test their luck with moves for Blues attackers this summer after an influx of young talents have joined the Blues.
Estevao Willian is expected to instantly be part of Enzo Maresca’s first team squad, while Kendry Paez and Geovany Quenda are going to be options in the coming years.
