Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa says he’s excited about a return to action with the national team.
Speaking from the team’s training base in the United Kingdom, the 31-year-old forward, who last featured for Nigeria in 2023, said being called up again is always an honour.
“I’m always happy whenever I get a call-up, so for me I’m very happy to be back. It has been a long time, but I don’t think there’s any difference.”
“We’ll just wait and see the day of the game to see what is going to happen.”
Praise for Home-Based Players
Musa, who has earned over 100 caps and holds the record for most World Cup goals by a Nigerian, lauded the inclusion of players from the NPFL, noting how it reflects the coach’s growing interest in local talent.
“You can see a lot of home-based teams are voicing the team.”
“The coach, I think he watched a lot of games of the Nigeria league, so I feel very happy for them.”
“So let’s see what can happen in the game.”
“Keep Supporting Us” – Musa Appeals to Fans
Following Nigeria’s recent poor form—including failure to win any of their first four 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers—Musa appealed to fans for continued patience and support.
“We know that a lot of Nigerians, I would say they are very disappointed in the Super Eagles, but I will always call on them to just keep on supporting us because that is what we need right now.”
“Their support will make a very impact for us.”
Nigeria will face Ghana in the tournament’s opener before squaring off against either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago, as head coach Eric Chelle and his squad rebuild toward upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
