Glenn Hoddle singled out one Chelsea star for huge praise after a vital win against Manchester United.
On Friday night, Chelsea were on the correct end of a 1-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge to earn three valuable points. Marc Cucurella’s second-half goal was a powerful header after getting on the end of a trademark Reece James cross.
The Blues are temporarily up to fourth in the Premier League after winning in their final home game of the season.
It means that Enzo Maresca’s side will travel to Nottingham Forest on the final day of the league season with their fate in their own hands to secure Champions League qualification.
Glenn Hoddle raves about Marc Cucurella
Glenn Hoddle delivered huge praise to Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, 26, after his latest performance.
He highlighted that the all-action left-back has enjoyed an incredible turnaround in his Blues career to become a key figure.
Hoddle said via the Premier League’s official website (10:23pm, 16 May): “Cucurella has turned it around. He wasn’t in the greatest favour with the fans and lacked confidence but my word he has turned it around. He is a threat in the penalty area and believes he is going to score.”
In Cucurella’s first two seasons as a Chelsea player, he often received plenty of criticism. However, he’s gone to a completely different level in his third campaign in West London.
Scott Minto’s assessment of Marc Cucurella is that he’s completely turned his career around, which appears to be the general consensus.
At the moment, he looks like one of the Premier League’s elite full-backs because he’s so consistent in all departments. Remarkably, it’s now seven goals across all competitions for the Spanish defender.
Marc Cucurella immense again vs Manchester United
It’s been a common trend of the 2024/25 season that Cucurella has been one of Chelsea’s standout individuals.
Yet again, the energetic left-back was instrumental in picking up three points against Man Utd.
