Chelsea’s first-team player is attracting interest from numerous clubs ahead of this summer, including Newcastle United.

Chelsea fans are always excited before a transfer window about any potential new incomings at Stamford Bridge, but it’ll be interesting to see how many individuals exit as well.

It’s been reported that Chelsea want to sell several players in the summer to help raise the funds to sign a new striker.

If the Blues are looking for sales, there are a number of talented profiles out on loan that could fetch a decent cash windfall. In addition, could they look to move on some players in Enzo Maresca’s current squad?

Fresh rumours suggest that Newcastle are keen on a move to sign a current Chelsea star.

Newcastle in race for Christopher Nkunku

The future of Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku, 27, is one of the big talking points ahead of the summer window.

According to Foot Mercato, Nkunku is expected to leave the Blues at the end of the season, even though he signed a six-year deal when he arrived in West London in 2023.

It is explained that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side are interested in signing the French forward.

The report adds that Premier League champions Liverpool like the Chelsea player after commencing talks about a potential deal. Also, German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have him firmly on their radar.

Christopher Nkunku has accepted his Chelsea career is over as he prepares to find a new club in the summer.

Apparently, Chelsea want £35m for Christopher Nkunku’s sale, which would still be a big hit on the £52m they paid to sign him from RB Leipzig two years ago.

Despite arriving with a huge reputation after his success in Germany, he’s struggled to become the main man at Stamford Bridge. A big reason why is that he’s usually playing out of position because Cole Palmer has nailed down the No 10 role.

Why Paul Merson feels sorry for Christopher Nkunku

It feels like the right move for all parties if Nkunku leaves Chelsea this summer.

Paul Merson rates Christopher Nkunku as an “intelligent” footballer and feels sorry that he’s competing with Palmer for a starting position. Merson said: “Christopher Nkunku’s position is not on the wing. I feel sorry for him. I like him, I think he’s a good player. He’s one that plays behind the centre-forward. He’s an intelligent footballer, connects things, but the problem is Palmer’s been outstanding.”

We’re only going to get the best version of Nkunku if he’s playing in a central playmaker role, but that looks impossible while he shares a dressing room with Palmer.

If he did join either Newcastle or Liverpool, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him regain his best form again.
