Birmingham City have confirmed the release of defender Femi Olofinjana, son of former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana, following the expiration of his contract with the club.

The 20 year old was one of ten young professionals named in the club’s released list published on their official website.

In a formal statement, the League One champions announced: “Ten young professionals have been released. Ben Beresford, Junior Dixon,

Taylor Dodd, Laiith Fairnie, Harley Hamilton, Josh Home, Femi Olofinjana, Sahid Kamara, Stoyan Pergelov and Oliver Sayer will all leave Birmingham City following the expiration of their contracts.”

Olofinjana joined Birmingham City in the summer of 2023 after parting ways with West Brom, where he featured prominently at U18 level.

During his time at Birmingham, he was involved with the club’s U21 setup as part of the Professional Development Phase.

Femi holds eligibility to represent Norway, Nigeria, and England, but chose to represent Norway at youth level, making appearances for their U17, U18, and U19 teams.

His release marks a new chapter as the young defender seeks the next step in his professional career.

No announcement has yet been made regarding his immediate future.
