A lot of hopes are resting on the shoulders of teenage sensation Estevao Willian ahead of his upcoming move to join Chelsea.
The expectation is that he will be in Enzo Maresca’s squad going into next season, with there actually being a chance Estevao becomes a Chelsea starter.
His phenomenal ability has already been on display despite only just turning 18. The Blues managed to beat a host of top sides to Estevao’s signature.
There were concerns though when Estevao was stretchered off in a recent Palmeiras game, not long after finding the net again for his side.
However, it emerged that this had not been as a result of a significant injury, and instead was down to the altitude in Bolivia, where the game was played.
Chelsea youngster Estevao Willian impresses on the pitch straight after being stretchered off
The issue is clearly nothing to worry about in the long-term, with him coming off the bench in Palmeiras’ latest game.
While he was unable to help them avoid a 1-0 defeat, GE Globo described his performance positively, stating that he had changed the game upon his arrival.
They said: “He entered the break and changed the way Palmeiras plays. The boy went up to the mark and got the best bids from the team in the game. He almost scored at the end of the entrance of the area and gave good assists.”
When will Estevao Willian join Chelsea?
Despite the deal being agreed for Estevao to join the club this summer, his involvement will not be straight away.
As part of the arrangement that came with signing him, the Brazil international will feature for Palmeiras in the Club World Cup, a competition where Chelsea will also be present.
The winger will then join up with Maresca and attempt to impress him enough to be in consideration for when the upcoming Premier League season gets underway.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact his addition has on the current squad, with the futures somewhat uncertain for the likes of Jadon Sancho as his loan spell comes to an end this summer.
