Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali was spotted celebrating with one Blues star on the Stamford Bridge pitch after their crucial win against Manchester United.

The Blues beat Man Utd 1-0 on Friday night to earn a vital three points in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca’s side are one of several clubs still fighting for Champions League qualification. Thankfully, their fate will be in their hands when they travel to Nottingham Forest next Sunday for the final day of the league season.

The equation is quite simple for Chelsea: if they beat Forest, they’ll qualify for next season’s Champions League

Chris Sutton’s prediction for Chelsea against Manchester United was spot on because it was a narrow home victory for the Blues.

Marc Cucurella found the back of the net in the second half with his powerful header. Remarkably, the Spanish left-back has now netted seven goals across all competitions this season after scoring only once in his first two seasons as a Chelsea player.

Behdad Eghbali celebrates with Marc Cucurella

In the post-match celebrations at Stamford Bridge, journalist Rahman Osman spotted a very interesting exchange on the pitch.

Apparently, Behdad Eghbali, the Blues co-owner, singled out Cucurella from a crowd of players to congratulate him after the Man Utd victory.

Without a doubt, Eghbali is one of the senior individuals pulling the strings at the football club. In fact, Eghbali, Todd Boehly and Jose E. Feliciano are the Chelsea figures who sign off on any big decision.

Cucurella is a huge favourite with the supporters because of his influence on the pitch, so it’s great to see he’s admired by the ownership as well.

Glenn Hoddle applauded Marc Cucurella’s turnaround at Chelsea by going from a £60m flop to a complete cult hero.

Chelsea must realise the project needs more experience

Even though Chelsea’s vision is centred around youth and rising stars for the future, they won’t get anywhere fast without more senior faces scattered around the dressing room.

At the age of 26, Cucurella is one of the experienced figures in the Blues squad. He’s definitely stood up this season to lead by example with the consistently quality performances.

In an ideal summer transfer window, Chelsea would sign one or two proven players to inject some more leadership and experience into the group.
