Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino had plenty to say about Pedro Neto over the weekend.
Chelsea signed Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer in a £54m deal, and the winger was able to make a real impact in his side’s previous away game.
It was Neto who scored Chelsea’s last-minute winner against Fulham earlier this month, a goal that could prove to be so important come May.
However, there has probably not been enough of that from the 25-year-old this season, with that being just the fourth time he has found the back of the net in the Premier League.
Tony Cascarino wants to see more consistency from Pedro Neto in a Chelsea shirt
Neto is not having the worst debut season, but Cascarino is one individual who wants to see more from the Portuguese.
While Cascarino thinks Neto can go on to become a “great” footballer, he has suggested that the Chelsea star has not shown enough consistency at Stamford Bridge this term.
Speaking about him on talkSPORT, the 62-year-old said: “I mean, when you see Neto and you’re watching him yesterday [Saturday], some of the things he does are just eye-catching.
“You look at him and you think… he’ll go past like somebody’s not there. But week in, week out, I don’t see the Neto I saw at Wolves. I see glimpses of how great he can be because he’s a fantastic, gifted footballer. There’s no doubt about that.”
While Neto is not exactly scoring goals for fun at the moment, there are other areas of his game that Chelsea fans appreciate.
For example, Chelsea supporters rate Neto’s crossing ability, believing that the Portugal international and Victor Osimhen could be the perfect combo as a result.
Osimhen is a centre-forward who is very powerful in the air and continues to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Joe Cole on Pedro Neto
Joe Cole is another former Chelsea player who has spoken about Neto this month.
The ex-England international discussed the Blues attacker’s excellent goal against Fulham, claiming that it was the kind of strike that gets you off your feet.
Cole spoke about Neto’s winner on a podcast and said: “Neto’s goal was just sensational. One of them that gets you off your chair.”
Enzo Maresca needs to see more of that going forward. If he does, then Chelsea are going to be a more successful team. It is as simple as that.
