Chelsea have had some loan successes this season, namely Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic.
Both players joined Chelsea‘s sister club Strasbourg last summer and have really thrived there. Statistically, Petrovic has been one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
However, not every Chelsea loanee has enjoyed the kind of success that Santos and Petrovic have.
The likes of Joao Felix and Raheem Sterling, for example, have had disastrous loans, which could impact their futures.
Brazilian journalists slam Joao Felix
Amid his struggles at AC Milan, Europe’s elite clubs are not exactly queuing up for Felix right now.
His options are limited, with Flamengo being touted as one of very few potential destinations for the forward. Brazilian journalists, however, do not see that move happening and have not held back with their assessments of him.
In a column for UOL, one journalist said: “First, he flopped after leaving Benfica. And second, he simply earns more than any Flamengo player by far. How is Flamengo going to bring in a player like that? Not only is he not cheap, they’re going to have to buy Joao Felix. I think that’s crazy
“Flamengo is prone to these somewhat exaggerated dreams, but I don’t believe Joao Felix will come. There’s no such thing as hiring whoever you want these days. It’s not like that. He earns R$10 million a month. If Flamengo pays R$10 million a month for Joao Felix, even if he drops it a little, to eight, it’s crazy — Joao Felix is a total lunacy.”
Another said: “We have doubts about these types of deals regarding the financial aspect, obviously. Technically speaking, he’s a player who hasn’t shown great value for a while, right? It would be a risky bet for a Flamengo that has recently shown itself to be taking a somewhat more conservative path in terms of cash flow and investment.”
Unsurprisingly, those following Milan have not been too impressed with Felix either. One Milan-based site really tore into Felix, telling the 25-year-old that he is not wanted at the San Siro.
Since arriving in Italy back in February, Felix has scored just one goal for Sergio Conceicao’s side, which came in the Coppa Italia.
Not wanted at Milan, the Portuguese must now find a new club in the summer, with there being little room for him at Chelsea.
What Cristiano Ronaldo is telling Joao Felix
One Portuguese player who seems to be enjoying his football right now is Ronaldo. The 40-year-old is closing in on his 100th goal in Saudi Arabia.
The Chelsea Chronicle has been told that Ronaldo is actually trying to persuade his compatriot to move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
With Felix not having too many options in Europe, it may have to be something that the former Atletico Madrid man considers. Again, there is little point in him returning and remaining at Stamford Bridge.
