Even though Jadon Sancho scored for Chelsea in a European final in May, it’s still unclear whether or not he will return to Stamford Bridge.
Jadon Sancho spent the 2024/25 campaign with Chelsea after joining from Manchester United on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old winger showed moments of brilliance for Enzo Maresca’s side, even though he was sometimes in and out of the starting line-up. Without a doubt, the highlight was scoring a stunning goal when the Blues beat Real Betis 4-1 in last month’s Conference League final to lift European silverware.

It’s been claimed that the Sancho to Chelsea saga will be wrapped up soon because a final decision on whether he returns to West London will be made within the next few days.
Chelsea edging towards not bringing Jadon Sancho back
According to The Guardian, Chelsea are increasingly likely to decide against signing Sancho permanently from Man Utd this summer.
It is understood that the Blues have an obligation to buy the Englishman for £25m, but they can pay a £5m exit fee to terminate the agreement.
The report claims that Chelsea are edging towards paying the £5m penalty sum. Even though they’ve been impressed by Sancho’s talent and attitude at Stamford Bridge, they have fears over his consistency.
Apparently, Chelsea could still decide to sign the wide man if he agrees to a lower salary to fit the club’s wage policy.
Jason Cundy hasn’t been convinced by Sancho during his season under Maresca, so he’s not sure he’s worth a £25m transfer fee. It should be factored in that Sancho was ‘very happy’ at Chelsea during his year at the football club, but it sounds like he may need to start a new chapter elsewhere.
The biggest issue with Jadon Sancho’s game
While we think Chelsea would be smart to spend £25m on Sancho this summer, we understand the caution.
If there’s one major criticism of the left-winger from his time with the Blues last season, it’s that he didn’t provide enough of a goal threat. His record of five goals in 41 appearances is minimal for an individual who showed at Borussia Dortmund earlier in his career he can score a lot of goals.
It’s quite telling that Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella outscored Sancho with seven goals across all competitions.
Maresca was impressed with Sancho throughout the season, but we would like to see a lot more goals from Chelsea’s wingers next year.
