Geovany Quenda has already set himself an ambitious goal ahead of his move to Chelsea in 2026.
It looks like Chelsea are not letting up in their pursuit to sign some of the most talented young players from across the globe.
Back in March, Sporting Lisbon confirmed via X that they’ve agreed a deal to sell Geovany Quenda to Chelsea. However, the 18-year-old winger will continue his development in Lisbon before moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca was heavily involved in the Geovany Quenda transfer, as he spoke personally with the youngster to help make the £40m move happen.
According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea signing Quenda is scheduled to visit the club after the Portuguese season ends.
The Blues have been ‘impressed’ with the teenage winger from afar this campaign, which resulted in them securing his future services. Apparently, the young attacker has already stepped up his English language lessons in preparation for his move to London next year.
The report adds that Quenda’s goal is to make himself an immediate contender for minutes when he joins up with Chelsea’s squad for the 2026/27 season, when he’ll still only be a teenager.
Former Manchester United star Nani described Geovany Quenda as “incredible” and thinks he’s mature beyond his years.
The left-footed wide man can play anywhere across the attack. For Blues fans that haven’t seen him in action yet, he’s a raw talent with unbelievable pace, trickery and excitement in his game.
Chelsea’s plan with Geovany Quenda is to use him as a left-winger when he does eventually arrive, but a lot can change from now until his arrival in 2026.
It’s been a quite remarkable debut campaign for Quenda in Sporting’s first team.
The Portuguese forward has played an important role in his side clinching the league title, edging out rivals Benfica on the final day.

We like the fact that he’ll have another year of senior football under his belt before he rocks up at Chelsea, and by the sounds of it, he’s already super focused on making an impact in English football.
Portuguese coaches are very excited about Geovany Quenda’s future, so it’s going to be interesting watching his development across the next year.
