There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson right now.

Jackson is currently the Blues’ first-choice striker, making 34 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, Chelsea are bringing in Liam Delap and are also thought to be interested in signing Hugo Ekitike.

As a result, it looks like Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals Manchester United are sensing an opportunity to recruit Jackson this summer.

Manchester United believe Chelsea will sell Nicolas Jackson

At the end of May, it was reported that United had made an approach for Jackson but Chelsea were reluctant to negotiate a sale at the time.

That stance, though, may be softening. Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that United remain interested in the 23-year-old and “believe” their rivals will sell him if a suitable offer arrives.

Enzo Maresca will find it difficult to keep Jackson, Delap and Ekitike all content, so it would not be a surprise to see the Senegal international depart if Ekitike arrives after Delap.

Jackson has had two decent seasons in the Premier League, making him a logical name for United to consider.

In the 65 appearances that Jackson has made, he has scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists. The former Villarreal man may have had more goal contributions to his name had he not been sent off against Newcastle United last month.

2023/24 35 14 5
Total 65 24 10

His dismissal at St James’ Park saw him miss Chelsea’s final two league games of the season. Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg agreed with the decision to send Jackson off.

Three other clubs also interested in Nicolas Jackson

United could face competition for Jackson, including from another club in the English top flight.

According to Phillips, Aston Villa, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are also seriously interested in signing the Chelsea star.

A potential swap deal involving Jackson and Morgan Rogers has even been mooted, with Chelsea keen on the attacking midfielder.

Jackson’s future, though, is likely to depend on whether Chelsea sign Ekitike or not.
