There will be a host of new faces on display for Chelsea during the upcoming Club World Cup as the Blues announced their official squad.

Liam Delap is set to lead the line after putting club over country this summer, while Todd Boehly confirmed Andrey Santos would be in action in the United States.

A number of players the Blues signed ahead of this transfer window will be present, including Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr. Kendry Paez is frustrated not to be going.

One player who has not been named in Enzo Maresca’s squad is Estevao Willian. There is plenty of excitement at Stamford Bridge around his introduction from Palmeiras.

Whether Estevao Willian can play for Chelsea at Club World Cup

The 18-year-old will be taking part in the Club World Cup, however this will be for the Brazilian side as part of the agreement made between the two clubs when the deal was made.

However, this is only set to be for the group stages of the competition. He will then become a Chelsea player at last.

Despite this, according to The Telegraph, FIFA rules state that any player named in a squad for the competition is therefore cuptied for the rest of the tournament.

The rules go on to say that this is the case even if they do not make an appearance for their club and remain on the bench.

Estevao Willian not leaving on loan

Chelsea are set to loan out Paez this summer, and fellow extremely promising youngster Geovany Quenda will spend another season at Sporting Lisbon before making the switch to West London.

However, the situation is not the same for the Brazil international. Estevao will be part of Maresca’s squad for the upcoming campaign.

Estevao enjoyed a dream league farewell from Palmeiras, and many of their fans are clearly gutted to be losing a player of his magnitude.

Their loss is Chelsea’s gain, however supporters will not be able to see the best out of him until the return of the Premier League in August.
