Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested in Texas on Wednesday, June 4, according to jail records obtained by TMZ Sports.
The 36-year-old ex-NFL player was taken into custody at approximately 2:29 p.m. and booked on a charge of “assault causing bodily injury to a family member,” according to the Collin County jail log.
A jail official confirmed that Hardy is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday morning, where a bond determination will be made. Until that court appearance, he will remain in custody.
Details regarding the circumstances of the latest assault allegation have not yet been made public.
This is not Hardy’s first run-in with the law. In 2014, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, a case that drew widespread media attention and led to his suspension from the NFL. Two years later, in 2016, he was arrested and jailed on a cocaine possession charge.
Hardy played in the NFL from 2010 to 2015, spending time with both the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys. After leaving professional football, he transitioned into mixed martial arts, where he competed in several UFC bouts.
Authorities have yet to release further information on the current case.
