Chelsea’s ambitious transfer policy looks set to see them continue to part ways with players who have played a big role in their previous season on the pitch.
The Blues continued to progress under Enzo Maresca by confirming their return to the Champions League, as well as securing the first trophy of the Todd Boehly era at the club.
Chelsea made the controversial decision 12 months ago to part ways with Conor Gallagher, despite the fact that he had been a crucial player for Mauricio Pochettino. The Cobham graduate had even captained the side in the absence of Reece James.
The Blues have shown that very few players are seen as unsellable at Stamford Bridge, which could make for an uncertain future for Noni Madueke.
Chelsea open to ‘suitable’ offers for Noni Madueke
Even though the winger started the Blues’ opening game at the Club World Cup, he was playing in the less-familiar left-wing position. Madueke was criticised for his performance in the 2-0 win over LAFC.
As Chelsea prepare for more change as a result of the transfer window, The Guardian have reported that the club will accept a suitable offer for Madueke this summer.
The Blues are pushing for a new attacker this summer. Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens are at the top of their list to bring in before the return of the Premier League in August.
Chelsea potentially going against Enzo Maresca
It is clear that Chelsea manager Maresca has an admiration for Madueke. He has played him 42 times in all competitions over the last season, including the current tournament in the United States.
Maresca stated recently that Madueke had improved under his leadership, however news that the Blues would be open to his departure could pose questions as to how much say the Italian has in matters at Stamford Bridge.
There is no doubting the England international’s ability when playing at his best. Peter Crouch has described Madueke as ‘unplayable’ in the past.
However, with Chelsea looking at Gittens, and already knowing that Estevao Willian will join up with the first team squad at the end of the Club World Cup, other top clubs could sense the opportunity to strike a deal with the Blues.
