Estevao Willian’s second audition to Chelsea supporters ahead of his summer move finally brought Palmeiras their first win in the Club World Cup.
The Brazilian side ran out 2-0 winners against Al Ahly, putting them temporarily top of their group in the competition.
Estevao starred in the opening game against Porto, picking up the player of the match award and looking bright whenever he got on the ball.
The same was the case for the 75 minutes he was on the pitch during the game against the Egyptians, which was temporarily delayed due to adverse weather conditions in the area.
Brazilian media have extremely high expectations of Estevao after his excellent spell in his home league, and GE Globo were moderate with their ranking of a 6.5/10.
They said: “Playing on the right, in the absence of the starting left-back, Koka, had the best chance of the first half in the 18th minute, when he was released by Veiga on the right wing and beat two defenders, finishing close to the goal but wide. In the second half, he created a good chance for Facundo, who shot weakly.”
The Brazil international was fluent across the frontline, and looked dangerous wherever he popped up on the ball.
For the second successive game in the Club World Cup, Estevao was handed the player of the match award.
Estevao’s value skyrocketing
Chelsea invested big money into Estevao at the age of just 16, however with him expected to join the first team squad next season there is clearly an expectation that he is ready to contribute.
A recent report stated Estevao is worth roughly three times more than what they paid for him already, due to his brilliant performances for his club.
The winger has also established himself as a Brazil international, with Carlo Ancelotti praising Estevao since he took over as the national team coach.
There is so much excitement at Stamford Bridge about their new player, and it is not long before supporters will get their first look of him in a Chelsea shirt.
