Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto is not buying one thing that Enzo Maresca has been saying.

The Italian has a very good Chelsea squad, and that was evident last season. Under him, the Blues were able to finish fourth in the Premier League table and win the Conference League.

Since then, they have tried to make it stronger by signing AC Milan’s Mike Maignan and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

In the past, Maresca has claimed that he is happy with his goalkeeper options, yet Chelsea still made a move for Maignan in the last transfer window.

Scott Minto suggests Enzo Maresca is unhappy with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen are currently Chelsea‘s first-choice and second-choice goalkeepers, with Maresca having constantly backed the former last season.

However, following the club’s pursuit of Maignan, Minto is convinced that the Chelsea head coach is not happy with the two despite his public stance.

Speaking about Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation on talkSPORT, the FA Cup winner said: “They have allegedly ended their pursuit of Mike Maignan, but I would be very surprised if that was the case.

“Maresca has come out and said they are happy with the keepers they’ve got — you’re not! If you were chasing Maignan and Milan had given you the price you wanted, then you would have brought him in, so clearly you’re not happy with your goalkeepers.”

Djordje Petrovic is another shot-stopper on the Blues’ books, but it looks like he will depart Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea have reportedly put Petrovic up for sale after not being able to guarantee him a starting spot for next season.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation

While Chelsea’s pursuit of Maignan may now be over, the Conference League winners could still end up signing a new goalkeeper before the start of the new season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are being offered other shot-stoppers, so an interesting opportunity could perhaps present itself shortly.

If not, then Maresca will have to persist with Sanchez and Jorgensen. In the future, Mike Penders is also expected to be an option.

The 19-year-old is seen as someone with huge potential. He is currently with Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad, showing how highly rated he is at the club.

Penders, however, may need a loan or two before he is ready to be a starter at Stamford Bridge.
