Chelsea will seemingly always have the prospect of multiple young, talented players to look forward to seeing break into the first team squad.

The ongoing Club World Cup has seen Estevao Willian introduce himself to European audiences for the first time ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Estevao has two player of the match displays to his name already, and is set for the blockbuster clash against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in their final group game.

As the tournament which Chelsea are involved in carries on, the Under 21 European Championship is another platform for talented players to showcase their abilities.

One player who certainly took this opportunity is Geovany Quenda, who the Blues will have to wait another 12 months to see at Stamford Bridge after an agreement was made with Sporting Lisbon.

Chelsea fans wowed by Geovany Quenda up against Ian Maatsen

Quenda was described as ‘incredible’ during the group stages, and was looking to carry that on when the Round of 16 got underway against Netherlands.

Despite facing 10 men for the majority of the game, Portugal were defeated 1-0, with the youngest player at the tournament missing a penalty early in the contest.

The opposition in question saw the youngster coming up against Ian Maatsen, who left Chelsea for a fee of £35m a year ago to join Aston Villa.

Even though they lost, the winger frequently got the best of his counterpart, with Blues fans noticing the talent they have on their hands in the process.

One user said: “Quenda is toying with Maatsen oh my days.”

Another added: “Geovany Quenda is just ridiculous. Having fun against Ian Maatsen here, a Premier League and UCL final level LB. The speed, athleticism and coordination is so top.”

A third stated: “Maatsen is getting played with by Quenda.”

Another claimed: “Lack of Roger Fernandes is really hurting Portugal atm.. dominating but having to go narrow instead. Quenda is cooking Maatsen, but with nothing on the other side Netherlands are able to double up and stack the middle.”

Finally, one user said: “Maatsen getting done by Quenda over and over lol.”

Chelsea are so excited about Quenda

While Chelsea have already secured a number of top young players to their ranks, there aren’t really any whom the optimism is as high about as Quenda.

Chelsea are so excited about Quenda, and have already been told they have done great business by securing his addition.

The Blues were competing with Manchester United for the signing, with many expecting Ruben Amorim to convince him to move to Old Trafford after they worked together at Sporting.

However, he chose Stamford Bridge as his next destination, and his appearances at the U21 Euros have shown that they cannot let him down in 12 months time when he makes the move.
