Chelsea found plenty of success from loaning one of their many promising youngsters to sister club Strasbourg this season.

The Blues sent midfielder Andrey Santos to Ligue 1 for the second successive campaign, with him this time showing enough to break into Enzo Maresca’s squad for next season.

Todd Boehly has confirmed Santos will remain with Chelsea starting from the Club World Cup, as he has his chance to break into the established midfield setup in West London.

Given the success of his loan away last season, it is expected the Blues will look to reap the rewards again with the French club with another of their top youngsters.

Chelsea hoping to repeat Andrey Santos success with Marc Guiu

Marc Guiu showed great promise in his first season at Chelsea. The biggest statement of support for him came when he was on the pitch for the Conference League final victory.

However, he will be aware that the Blues are about to sign Liam Delap, and Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that they are considering sending him to Strasbourg.

He said: “Guiu knows Chelsea are looking even beyond Liam Delap.

“Chelsea rate him but they know he needs minutes and work is being done – a few Championship clubs are being linked, but there is foreign interest,

“They are looking and one option being considered is Strasbourg – they are looking at options, have done work on Leeds’ Mateo Joseph for instance, so think he feeling amongst some in BlueCo is why not? He has some European experience too.”

Guiu could be involved in Delap deal

With Delap set to be announced any day now, there have been reports that the deal could involve the Spaniard.

It was claimed that Ipswich want Guiu to help them make an immediate return to Premier League football from the Championship.

Given the fact he has proven himself as a genuine option in the Conference League this season, the player himself could be keen to test himself at a higher level.

If the Blues add another forward then Guiu’s immediate future will almost certainly be away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are still keen on Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
