Chelsea chiefs are working hard to get a large portion of their business done before the transfer window temporarily closes this week.
Clubs have been given the opportunity to sign players early this summer in order to prepare those who are jetting off to the United States to compete in the Club World Cup.
The Blues are taking the competition seriously, and have already added Liam Delap to their ranks to try and give Enzo Maresca the best chance possible of success up against some of the world’s best teams.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea are not done yet in this portion of the transfer window, with them targeting another new attacker before Tuesday’s deadline.
Chelsea set to bid again for Jamie Gittens
The Blues have been heavily linked to Jamie Gittens, with the former Manchester City academy star having a breakout campaign at Borussia Dortmund.
After Chelsea had a bid rejected for Gittens, Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Blues are preparing a new offer to try and reach an agreement with the Bundesliga side in the next few hours.
He said to the ‘Here We Go Podcast’: “Get ready, new bid for Jamie Gittens is incoming. Chelsea want to try to be fast, I’ll give you details soon but, it will include add ons to try to strike an agreement.
“Chelsea held talks today with Dortmund. Joe Shields again is doing a special job in this, with a mark of ex-City academy on Chelsea team.”
The Blues are looking for a replacement for Jadon Sancho, after they decided that they did not want to trigger the clause to sign him permanently following his loan spell.
Gittens’ remarkable only game with Liam Delap
The City connection is already strong at Stamford Bridge, with former coach Maresca already having Delap, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Tosin Adarabioyo at his disposal.
During their time together at the Etihad, Gittens and Delap played just one game together against Liverpool, however destroyed their opponents in a sensational display.
With Delap and Palmer having a great record together too, there is plenty for Chelsea fans to be excited about if this signing does get over the line.
If it is not done before the first deadline, it is expected Chelsea will finalise the deal before the transfer window finally slams shut in September.
