The champions in one top European league have their heart set on signing a key Chelsea player this summer.
Enzo Maresca relied heavily on the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto to hurt other teams’ defences during the 2024/25 season.
Last month, Madueke was compared to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka by former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, showing how dangerous he was at times last term.
And it seems that the England international has caught the attention of one famous European club with his performances.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has enquired about Noni Madueke
In England, Newcastle United are interested in signing Madueke, but the Magpies face competition from Napoli for the 23-year-old’s signature.
According to Napoli Network, Giovanni Manna, who is the Serie A champions’ sporting director, recently flew into London to hold talks about Madueke.
The outlet claims that Manna spoke to intermediaries about how much it will cost to sign the winger, discovering that Chelsea want £50m for him.
It would see them make a healthy profit after signing Madueke for around £29m back in the 2023 winter transfer window.
Madueke has been an important player for Maresca, making 41 appearances and scoring 11 goals under the Italian.
However, despite a campaign where he showed a lot of promise, Chelsea look open to selling the England international.
Why Chelsea are now considering selling Noni Madueke
It was recently confirmed that Jadon Sancho would be heading back to Manchester United following the end of his loan spell at Chelsea.
Mykhailo Mudryk is also still suspended from playing football, so the Blues are getting weaker in the wide positions.
The above may not be enough to stop Chelsea from getting rid of Madueke if a good offer comes in, though.
There is a belief at the club that Madueke’s development has halted, which is why they are willing to consider selling the former PSV Eindhoven man.
Estevao Willian will be linking up with the senior squad soon, while there is still plenty of time left in the summer for Chelsea to sign a new winger. So the Blues will have the chance to replace both Sancho and Madueke if the latter also leaves Stamford Bridge.
