Former Super Eagles winger, Pius Ikedia has called on the team to be more aggressive
and confident in their games.
Speaking with Ifeanyi Udeze on Brila FM’s ‘No Holds Barred,’ Ikedia noted that “They
(Super Eagles) were too eager when finishing their chances against Zimbabwe and need to
take their time.
The crosses were also poor, and the wingers shouldn’t rush their deliveries,”
he stated.
He also highlighted the need for defensive improvement, saying, “The defenders must be
more aggressive and communicate better. The goal conceded could have been avoided if they
had spoken to each other during the opponent’s attack.”
Ikedia concluded by stating that “We (Nigeria) have a generation of young players. Many of
them are still developing, so the best thing we can do is encourage and support them.”
The 44-year-old, who earned 15 caps and scored one goal for the Super Eagles, was part of
Nigeria’s squad at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
