It has been another disappointing season for Chelsea, who currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.
It is where Chelsea finished last term and if they do not improve quickly, then they are going to stay there.
Premier League champions Manchester City, on the other hand, are in third, just three points behind Liverpool in first. They could easily go on to win another title come May.
Ultimately, Chelsea and City are miles apart from each other. Yet the former still lead the latter in one area this season.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s men take on Manchester United next in the Premier League and have received a couple of injury boosts going into the game, including Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chelsea outperforming Manchester City in one area
In the top flight this season, City have scored 63 goals. That is 14 more than what Chelsea have managed.
Interestingly, though, Pochettino’s men have actually been creating more big chances than Pep Guardiola’s side.

According to BBC Sport, after the Burnley match last Saturday, Chelsea had the third-highest average for big chances created per game, putting them above City.
Had they been more clinical, then, this season would look much different for the team sitting in 12th.
Will Chelsea ever get to Manchester City’s level?
That would have been Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital‘s aim after taking over the club in 2022. However, Chelsea are miles away from their Premier League rivals.
City won the treble last term, while Chelsea finished 12th and find themselves there again a year later.
Even when the club were at its peak under Roman Abramovich they were unable to achieve such a feat.
With the amount of money Chelsea spend, they have to get better and may eventually return to where they once were. But it would probably take having a world-class team with Guardiola in charge for them to reach the Citizens’ level.
For now, Chelsea just have to worry about getting back into the Champions League, which will not happen this season.
