If Chelsea are to pick up a crucial three points tonight in the Premier League against Manchester United, it is perhaps easy to say who they are going to rely on for a strong performance.

Easily the standout player at Stamford Bridge this season has been Cole Palmer, with him sitting as the top scorer and assister so far in his first campaign at the club.

There is no doubt the reliance on the 21-year-old is probably a bit too high right now, with Mauricio Pochettino referencing as much after their last game against Burnley.

Chelsea’s winless run against Manchester United

The Blues have a serious winless run to try and overcome tonight against United, with it being 12 consecutive games without a win over them.

They are also now more than two years without a home victory over any side in the top six of the table, a run which will be a real worry to many.

Chelsea have already lost to tonight’s opponents this season, with them putting on arguably their worst performance of the campaign in a 2-1 defeat.

The only positive as far as they were concerned was a superb goal on the stroke of half-time by Palmer, a moment he has ranked as his best since joining the club.

Palmer has chance to match Mata stat

If the England international was to find the net tonight, he would become the first player since the 2012/13 season to score in both fixtures of a single campaign.

The last player to do this was Juan Mata, who was soon out the door in favour of his own switch to Old Trafford.

With him already reaching a tally of 30 goals and assists this season in all competitions, you would not want to bet against him finding the net tonight, and helping Chelsea finally climb the table towards the European places.
