Chelsea’s transfer business looks as if it is far from finished this summer as we approach the real height of pre-season.

The highlight addition up to now has been Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who worked closely with Enzo Maresca last season at Leicester City.

Tosin Adarabioyo has impressed a lot of people at the club in the early sessions, and will no doubt be pushing for regular minutes when the plethora of pre-season fixtures get underway in the coming weeks.

A number of candidates still remain high on their list, with those they are looking to sign very different to from when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.

One name who was reportedly high on the list last summer was Manuel Ugarte, before he ended up moving to PSG.

Chelsea were offered Manuel Ugarte

Now, ‘journalism_rp’ on Twitter has stated that the Blues were handed another chance to bring him in earlier this year, however did not act upon it.

He said: “CFC were approached in April from Ugarte’s representation, who view the move to PSG as a massive mistake. – PSG view Ugarte as extremely limited and a long way away from the player they expected to sign.

“United have broadly agreed to match his personal terms at PSG – which are high. – Utd have also made it known they are willing to put down a strong upfront fee with attainable add-ons, in a similar way to how they bidded for Yoro.”

Manchester United are looking to add Ugarte to their recent addition this week of former Chelsea target Leny Yoro.

If they wanted to, the Blues can certainly make their own top signing in this department in the form of Jorrel Hato.

Competition for midfield places at Chelsea

As far as midfield positions go at Stamford Bridge, there looks as if there is going to be plenty of competition for places under Enzo Maresca.

As well as the regulars from last season, the likes of Romeo Lavia will be looking for a far better time of things as far as minutes go next season.

Andrey Santos will also be of the belief that he is good enough to make an impact on the first team next season, after he spent last season on two different loans away.
