Police allege a mother killed in a hit and run after dropping her child off at a Queensland day day care was deliberately targeted.
A woman has now been charged her with murder.
Footage shows a silver Prado driving away after allegedly striking and leaving the young woman for dead on the side of Allamanda Drive, near Rose Street just before 9am on Friday.
Thompson was rushed to hospital but died hours later.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight described what happened as “horrendous” and alleged it wasn’t an accident.
“It is a gross understatement for me to say anything other than that family is deeply traumatised,” he said.
“We will allege that that event was not in fact an accident and the young lady who sadly lost her life was in fact targeted by an individual.”
There’s security footage of the silver Prado in the area hours before, indicating the driver knew the movements of the young mum.
Police said it was shortly after she dropped her young child off at day care when she was struck.
The 24-year-old alleged driver from Goodna in Ipswich was found yesterday in nearby Yamanto.
The silver Prado was seized at Goodna. Police said it had visible damage.
The relationship between Thompson and her accused killer is still unclear.
They knew each other but to what extent was being investigated.
As the case progresses, detectives are appealing for the driver or passengers on a white bus seen on Allamanda Drive on Friday morning to come forward.
Flowers have been placed where Thompson was hit and where witnesses tried desperately to save her with CPR.
Her accused murderer will front court tomorrow.
Motorists, including anyone with dash cam vision, who were travelling in the Daisy Hill area near Allamanda Drive between 5am and 10am on Friday, July 19, are urged to contact police.
