One Chelsea star looks determined to remain at Stamford Bridge this summer despite the possibility of being a bench player in the new season.

If Chelsea want him gone, though, there may not be much that he can do. The Blues’ owners and sporting directors have already shown their ruthlessness by forcing Trevoh Chalobah out of the club.

Chalobah has been excluded from Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States and now looks set for an exit.

Crystal Palace were interested in Chalobah, so that could be one potential destination for him this summer.

However, as of now, one of his team-mates does not look too keen on the idea of leaving west London.

Robert Sanchez does not want to leave Chelsea

Chelsea only signed Robert Sanchez last summer, bringing the goalkeeper in from Brighton & Hove Albion for £25m.

He lost his starting spot to Djordje Petrovic, though, and Chelsea want another goalkeeper, which is not a good development for the 26-year-old.

Nevertheless, Sanchez wants to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for a place in Enzo Maresca‘s team.

Speaking about the Spaniard on his Substack, journalist Simon Phillips said: “SPTC sources have heard that Sanchez wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for a starting spot, and he will not leave unless he is forced out by the club, but the club will not do that.”

Robert Sanchez likely to stay at Chelsea

While Chelsea could bring in a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes, you would still expect Sanchez to remain in west London.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Maresca does rate Sanchez, so there is likely to be some sort of role for him at Chelsea this upcoming season.

The one in danger, then, is probably Petrovic. If the Blues do go on to sign another shot-stopper, then you can easily see the 24-year-old being loaned out or perhaps even sold.

In terms of who Chelsea could bring in, Romano has claimed that they have made an initial approach for Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen.

As things stand, though, you suspect that Sanchez is in line to start in goal when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Premier League on August 18.
