It looks like the owner of one Premier League club is confident of keeping hold of the team’s star player despite interest from Chelsea.

Chelsea have been busy this summer, bringing in Renato Veiga and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to name a couple of their signings.

However, their business does not appear to be finished, as the club are yet to buy a striker for the first team.

The likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres have been linked. Tottenham could target Gyokeres as well, though, which could complicate things for them a bit.

There is also another centre-forward, who has been a topic of conversation for the owner of the club he plays for.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley not expecting Dominic Solanke to leave

Dominic Solanke has been on Chelsea’s list of strikers this summer, and the Bournemouth man has a release clause in his contract.

According to The Athletic, the release clause is set at around £65m and can be triggered by certain Premier League clubs.

However, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley does not expect that to happen and believes Solanke will remain at the Vitality Stadium.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: “I believe Dom is going to be with us this coming year. He has a release clause, which is very expensive.”

He later went on to add: “I guess if someone comes for him, we are going to have to replace him. We have two or three candidates that we have lined up, but I believe Dom will be here next year — and I believe he is going to score 21 or 22 goals.”

Chelsea also unlikely to sign Ivan Toney

Another Premier League centre-forward who Chelsea have been linked with is Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Looking at how the 28-year-old performed in the 2022/23 season, he could be a good addition to Enzo Maresca‘s squad.

In total, Toney scored 21 goals in 35 appearances. However, as with Solanke, it does not look like Chelsea will be signing the England international this summer.

Chelsea feel Toney is too old, so he is not going to be a priority for the club it seems. As things stand, then, the Blues will go into the new season with Nicolas Jackson as the undisputed first-choice No.9.

He did not fare too badly last term, scoring 17 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.
