A retailer in Queensland fed up with teenagers shoplifting from her store armed herself with a large knife before locking one of them inside.

Lin Ge, the shopkeeper at Friendly Grocer in Newport north of Brisbane, claims she has been hit by thieves on several occasions and took matters into her own hands when the three boys aged 14 to 15 were in her store on Tuesday.

‘I’m not going to lie, we were looking for a reaction from her. We were like pretending to steal, but we didn’t steal,’ one of the boys told 7 News.

Two of the boys ran out of the store ‘pretending’ to hold stolen goods.

CCTV footage then shows the shopkeeper shutting the glass door, locking the third boy inside, and then grabbing the roughly 30cm long blade and demanding he pay.

One of the boy’s claimed when he tried to open the glass door, the shopkeeper motioned at him through the gap.

The CCTV shows that as Ge, holding the knife, and the boy stood at the counter a white car then smashed through the glass door.

The boy admitted he doesn’t have a driver’s licence as he is too young but claims he bought the car on Facebook marketplace.

The third boy was then able to escape the shop and the trio fled.

One of the trio admitted to previously stealing from the shop in May and Ge said she’d ‘had enough’.

Neither party has complained to police so the incident is not under investigation.
