Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has admitted that he’s hoping to replicate one thing that his Chelsea teammate has done at Stamford Bridge.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall completed a move from Leicester City to Chelsea this summer, following the same path as his manager.

The 25-year-old midfielder worked under Enzo Maresca last season as Leicester were promoted from the Championship as title winners. Now, the pair have reunited immediately because Maresca is the new head coach at Chelsea.

Blues fans are waiting to get their first glimpse still of the club’s new central midfielder in action. It was confirmed by journalist Nizaar Kinsella on X, Dewsbury-Hall missed the Wrexham draw with a minor injury.

Hopefully, the left-footed Englishman is soon available and ready to make his first ever appearance in Chelsea colours during this pre-season tour in the United States.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wants to mirror Cole Palmer achievement

Dewsbury-Hall has cited Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as a bit of an inspiration for him. He’s hoping a move to Stamford Bridge can earn him a first England call-up, which is exactly what happened to Palmer because of his success in the 2023/24 season.

Dewsbury-Hall told The Daily Mail: “I have always dreamt of playing for England. I have my aims for Chelsea, of course – winning trophies and playing well – but hopefully side by side with that, if it can get me in contention, it would be a dream.

“Cole Palmer is the perfect example. He is absolutely flying and went on to make a great impact at the Euros. To do something similar, to follow in those footsteps, would be ideal.”

If you rewind to one year ago, Palmer was on the Manchester City bench and representing England’s Under-21s side. But he’s now a full senior international that even scored for England in the final of Euro 2024 this summer.

The £40m attacker (Sky Sports) shot to fame after a remarkable debut campaign at Chelsea, scoring 25 goals for them across all competitions.

It’s a little different for Dewsbury-Hall because he’s 25 and stepping up from last year in the Championship. But if he can break into Chelsea’s XI, an England call-up doesn’t feel that unrealistic.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could surprise plenty

The arrival of Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester this summer isn’t super glamorous, but it could actually turn out to be a fantastic piece of business.

There’s the great advantage that the box-to-box midfielder already knows Maresca’s system inside out. He was actually a key player in Leicester’s title-winning campaign last year.

On top of that, England aspirations shouldn’t be completely out of the question for him. It took until later in the tournament for Kobbie Mainoo to emerge as a starter next to Declan Rice in midfield, so there’s still question marks in that area.
