Halsey has admitted she regrets returning to music

The 29-year-old singer took time off after being struck down by autoimmune condition Lupus and a rare lymphoproliferative disorder, but made a comeback last month when she released new single ‘The End’ which was followed by ‘Lucky’ weeks later – but Halsey has confessed she regrets getting back to work because she’s been given such a tough time by her own fans.

In a post on Tumblr, she explained: “My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet. Not speaking for all of you, of course, but it used to be just a minority that were awful to me and now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.”

She went on: “[It’s difficult to] to want to engage in a space that is completely devoid of any kindness, sympathy, patience; or to be honest human decency. Especially after years of hiding from the interactions for fear that this EXACT thing would happen.

“I don’t know man. I almost lost my life. I am not gonna do anything that doesn’t make me happy anymore. I can’t spiritually afford it …”

Halsey concluded by declaring she is having second thoughts about returning to music, adding: “When I got sick all I could think about was getting better so I could come back and be a part of THIS again, but I don’t even know what *this* is anymore and I want to crawl in a hole and I regret coming back.”

Halsey – who was born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – previously updated her fans about her health struggles revealing she had a “rocky” start but doctors have managed to get her symptoms under control.

In a post on Instagram last month, she wrote: “I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

“Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.

“After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After two years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.

“I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all … singing and screaming my heart out.”
