Pop sensation Britney Spears’ biopic is said to be in the works at Universal Pictures.
According to Variety, the studio has secured the rights to Britney Spears’ bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me, for an upcoming movie adaptation.
Jon M. Chu, known for directing Wicked, will helm the project, with Marc Platt producing.
Although Spears has not officially confirmed the project, she cryptically posted on X on August 1.
“Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favourite movies … stay tuned.”
Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman In Me,” has sold over 2.5 million copies in the United States. It received critical acclaim and became the fastest-selling book in Simon & Schuster’s history.
Additionally, it reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list in all formats: audio, hardcover, and ebook.

In The Woman In Me, Spears discusses her childhood and early years, detailing her rise to fame as a pop star and the immense pressures of the music industry.
