Five people have been charged after a police car was allegedly rammed by a stolen vehicle in Melbourne’s north-east earlier this week.

Officers first sighted the allegedly stolen white Toyota Corolla sedan driving along Strathallan Road about 4.45am on Tuesday.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, before it reversed at a “fast rate of speed” into Wilson Street.

The Toyota allegedly hit a pole and a fence before driving forward and ramming a police vehicle, police said.

Three men and two women were arrested at the scene.

A 35-year-old Macleod man has since been charged with aggravated intentional exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, theft of a motor vehicle, negligently dealing with property suspected to be proceeds of crime and drug offences.

He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 8.

A 22-year-old Mill Park man, a 28-year-old man of no fixed address, a 20-year-old Doreen woman and a 23-year-old Lalor woman were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and negligently deal with property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

All four were bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 4.
