Given the affectionate moniker of ‘chicken wine’ as it features feathered birds on the label, this popular summer rosé is one of TikTok wine expert Tom Gilbey’s favourite bottles of the season.

An Instagram video published by Luke on June 22 saw him pop the cork of a bottle of Pouilly Fussie, which he praised for its ‘golden shimmer [where] fruit meets the oak.’

He captioned the post: ‘You can go searching but there is nothing quite like classic oaked Burgundy done well.’

Others were keen to try the bottle and left positive feedback after tasting it for the first time, stating: ‘Getting this for my Saturday night’.

‘Lovely drop’.

‘That’s the stuff!!’

‘One of my faves’.

Majestic Wines says it is ‘as fresh as the salty winds that race across the lagoon.’

‘It’s incredibly zesty, with intense lemon and grapefruit flavours, and refreshing minerality – a perfect choice for fish and seafood dishes.’

Evidence of its intense flavour comes from the translation of Piquepoul – which means ‘lip stinger’.

Per Decanter, this strong taste is ‘complemented by citrus and stone fruit, and a distinct saline, iodine quality.’

‘More complex examples can also display mineral, wet stone notes, or round, leesy richness.’

Ben Revell, founder of Winebuyers shared his top rosé wines while noting that it is a strong summer signal for many wine drinkers.

He said: ‘For many of us, pink wine in glasses is a signal that summer is on its way.

‘From pretty peach to striking salmon pink, rosé is light, fruity and low in tannins making for a very drinkable wine and a great partner for light food, especially in the warmer weather’,

“As spectacular on the palate as it is in the bottle, pretty, vibrant notes of white peach, white flowers and salty minerality all emerge from the 2018 Prestige Rosé.

‘A wine of real impact and drama, it stays balanced and layered on the palate and is an incredibly versatile rosé to drink,’ he stated, per The Scotsman
