Hilarious footage captured former First Lady Melania Trump wincing as Kid Rock performed at the Republican National Convention.

The singer and outspoken conservative took the stage in Milwaukee to warm up the crowd before Donald Trump gave the convention’s primetime speech.

But his re-made version of 2000 hit ‘American Bad A**’ – with lyrics changed to include references to Trump – appeared to fail to impress the former First Lady.

Melania grimaced as Kid Rock pumped his fist in the air and chanted ‘fight’, an apparent nod to Trump’s iconic reaction to his assassination attempt a week ago.

Melania was sat next to her stepson Eric and Trump’s VP pick JD Vance, who seemed to enjoy Kid Rock’s performance more than others as he nodded along.

Footage of Melania’s reaction circulated quickly across social media, with commenters seemingly agreeing with her views on the rocker’s set.

‘Wait, this isn’t a joke?’ one said.

Another noted: ‘She cracks me up, she may not use her words so much but her face gives away her true feelings every time.’

A third claimed that while watching, they spotted Kid Rock ‘forgot to keep the mic up at the end when his (?) voice was still playing. Lip sync error.’

It came before Donald Trump ended the RNC with a lengthy speech accepting the Republican nomination for president.

He appeared uncharacteristically emotional as he took the stage, sharing a tender embrace with Melania as he recounted the experience of being shot at a rally the week prior.

He hugged his loved ones and planted a kiss on his grandson’s cheek as he waved to the crowd, which greeted them with rapturous applause.

Describing the moment an assassin’s bullet sliced through his heavily bandaged ear, the 78-year-old told his supporters: ‘I’m not supposed to be here.’

But the sentiment was met with chants of ‘yes you are! Yes you are!’ – a response which again invoked clear emotion on the face of the former president as he said: ‘Thank you… but I’m not.’

Trump also paid tribute to former fire chief Corey Comperatore, who died in the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, by kissing his firefighters helmet on stage.

But after spending the first 15 minutes of his speech recounting the attempt on his life, critics panned Trump’s remarks as he appeared to go off teleprompter and riff at numerous times in his speech.

He shifted from speaking about unity and togetherness to his more usual tone of attacking his enemies, branding Joe Biden ‘the worst president in US history.’

Trump also called Nancy Pelosi ‘crazy’ and praised the fictional psychopath Hannibal Lecter in a rambling 92 minute speech.

Once again he falsely claimed Democrats had cheated during the 2020 election he lost, and accused them of launching judicial witch hunts to create a ‘planet of war’.

‘The Democrat Party should immediately stop weaponizing the justice system and labeling their political opponent as an enemy of democracy, especially since that is not true,’ Trump said.

‘In fact, I am the one saving democracy for the people of our country,’ he said.

His address marked the climax of the four-day Republican convention, during which Trump formally accepted the presidential nomination ahead of November’s election.
