The is the shocking moment a gang of thugs armed with knives, a baseball bat and a pole clashed in a savage brawl outside a Tesco Express. 

Fighting spilled out into the street in Chafford Hundred, Essex, on Thursday evening leaving two men injured.

Police have since arrested two men, aged 25 and 53, after video footage of the mayhem went viral online. 

In the clip, filmed on a mobile phone, two groups of men are seen clashing outside Tesco near Chafford Hundred railway station. 

One man, armed with a pole, is seen lunging at another male and striking him across the head, with his victim falling to the floor unconscious. 

Bystanders watched on in horror as three men, two armed with knives and one wielding a baseball bat, then rushed forward in retaliation.

The footage, which went viral online, captured the moment two men chased a third away. Police said two people were injured in the incident and that two men have since been arrested

One man armed with a knife is seen getting hit in the head by a pole, as a second with the baseball bat appears to charge after the male with the pole.

All three men then run out of view, leaving the unconscious male in a white top sprawled on the floor outside the Tesco Express store. 

Footage of the mayhem has been viewed more than 340,000 on X, formerly Twitter.

Essex Police have since arrested two people in connection with the ‘serious incident’, after a series of raids over the weekend.  

In a statement, the force said: ‘We had been called to reports of a group of people involved in a fight at around 8.15pm on Thursday.

‘Two people were subsequently found with injuries which, thankfully, were not deemed to be life-threatening.

‘Warrants were carried out it Chafford Hundred and Grays overnight and two men – aged 25 and 53 – were arrested on suspicion of affray.’

Both of the suspects are in custody for questioning.

Essex Police insisted there was ‘no wider threat to the public’. 

Chief Inspector Tony Atkin, Thurrock district commander, said: ‘First and foremost, I would like to thank the members of the public who alerted us to this incident, which I’m sure will have been extremely unpleasant to witness.

‘The incident will naturally cause concern among our community. To reassure our residents, it is clear to us that this incident does not present a wider threat to the people of Thurrock or visitors to Lakeside.

‘At this stage, the investigation is progressing at pace, and I would encourage anyone with information on this incident to please come forward and speak to us.’
