Princess Elisabeth cut an effortlessly elegant figure as she joined King Philippe and Queen Mathilde for Belgium’s National Day celebrations.

The European royal, 22, who has recently completed History and Politics degree at Oxford, opted for a hot pink outfit for the annual event.

Every year, the country marks National Day to celebrate the anniversary of Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg swearing allegiance to the Belgian Constitution – making him the first King of Belgium.

The future Queen, who linked arms with her brother Prince Emmanuel as she walked up the steps of Brussels Cathedral, looked suitably sophisticated in a fuchsia midi dress and matching headband.

The royal’s form-fitting dress featured a chic cape detail that covered her shoulders for the religious ceremony this morning.

Elisabeth finished off her ensemble with a matching hot pink clutch bag, silver dangly earrings and some nude heels.

Princess Eleonore, 16, also looked equally as chic as her older sister in a red-and-white floral silk dress while their brothers Emmanuel, 18, and Gabriel, 20, were dapper in morning suits for the occasion.

Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde, 51, was stylish in an ivory button-down dress with a full skirt and matching hat.

The Queen paired her chic dress with some tan suede gloves, which went perfectly with her high heels.

King Philppe, 64, was dressed in his military uniform as he led his family into the Cathedral this morning.

Independence Day celebrates the separation of Belgium from the Netherlands in 1831, as well as the formal establishment of the Kingdom.

Today sees a varied programme of festivities, from the Place du Jeu de Balle to Brussels Park, taking in the various districts of Brussels for National Day.

Earlier this month, Princess Elisabeth officially bid farewell to the University of Oxford after three ‘wonderful’ years.

The future European Queen enrolled at the institution under the name ‘Elisabeth de Saxe-Coburg’ and was a member of Lincoln College.

Speaking about her time there, a spokesperson for the Belgian Royal Palace told the Oxford Mail: ‘The Princess loved studying in Oxford and had a wonderful time in Lincoln College.’

As well as being an active member of her college’s boat club, Elisabeth would have completed around six written papers and a thesis in History or Politics in her final year to complete the degree.

Princess Elisabeth’s next endeavour is the renowned Harvard University in Boston, where the Princess passed entrance tests to.

She took time out of her studies her studies at the time to carry out the rare royal engagement in her home nation.

Elisabeth is next in line to the Belgian throne as she is the eldest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.
