Glen Powell, who is currently enjoying the success of the disaster drama Twisters, has provided an exciting update on the upcoming Top Gun 3.
Powell revealed that the Tom Cruise-led threequel is indeed moving forward, and he knows the date when pre-production on the untitled film will start.
During his appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Powell and his Twisters co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones were asked if a continuation of Normal People or a third Top Gun film was more likely to happen first.
Powell responded, “I mean, I have a date,”
When asked if he could share more details on the project, the actor remained tight-lipped saying, “Absolutely not.”
Back in January, it was reported that Paramount Pictures was officially developing a third Top Gun movie.
Powell was announced to return for the threequel alongside his Top Gun: Maverick co-stars Tom Cruise and Miles Teller.
Powell starred as Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick, which saw Cruise returning as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell after more than thirty years.
The original Top Gun was released in 1986 and followed Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, a talented and daring fighter pilot.
The sequel to the movie featured Maverick being tasked with training a new group of TOP GUN graduates for an unprecedented mission.
The release date for Top Gun 3 has not yet been announced.
Glen Powell’s Twisters is currently playing in theatres.
