James Gunn’s DC universe may have found its next Batman.
The newly revamped DCU is set to feature a new Batman, separate from Robert Pattinson’s version.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold, announced by Gunn back in January 2023, will feature the dynamic duo of Batman and his son, Robin.
Twisters star Glen Powell recently dropped hints about playing Dark Knight in the new DC Universe.
Astute fans were quick to notice that Powell has recently started following James Gunn and “Brave and the Bold” director Andy Muschietti on Instagram.
This has convinced many that he will indeed play the next Batman in the DCU. “The Brave and the Bold” will feature a middle-aged Batman, around 40.
Powell could be a good fit for the role, considering he is currently 36 and will be around 40 by the time the film comes out.
On top of that, he has recently expressed his interest in playing Batman and even teased a unique take on the iconic superhero.
Powell revealed in a GQ interview, “I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman.”
Unlike the darker and grittier tone of Matt Reeves’ recent Batman films, Powell’s version would be more similar to the classic portrayal by Michael Keaton.
Powell added, “It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”
Of course, there is no official confirmation regarding Powell’s casting from DC Studios or himself, so we must take this with a grain of salt.
The film will introduce the Bat-Family to the DCU, focusing on a ‘strange father and son story’ about Batman and Robin.
Andy Muschetti’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold does not have a release date yet.
