After portraying the clawed hero, Hugh Jackman will finally get to adorn Wolverine’s classic yellow and blue suit in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie.
The last time Jackson’s mutant was on screen with Ryan Reynolds Deadpool was in the 2009 Fox movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The now-Marvel Studios movie made it a priority to have Jackman suit up in the comic-accurate suit.
Executive producer for the film, Wendy Jacobson, told HeyUGuys how monumental the costume choice was.
“It was one of the craziest things. It was the camera test before we started shooting, and to see both of those guys in costume together was just mind-blowing.”
Jacobson has worked on the production of other Marvel Studio’s works including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Jacobson continued by stating: “But Hugh walking out in the yellow and blue, there were grown men, like, sobbing on the set.”
“So we knew it was a very special thing.”
Interestingly, if it wasn’t for Jackman, Shawn Levy’s Deadpool sequel might not have taken the turn that it did – or happened at all.
After Jackman had been in 9 Fox movies for the X-Men franchise, he seemingly retired from the role with the future-set Logan which was released in 2017.
The long-time hero made the brave decision to come back to the world of X-Men with Kevin Feige’s request that he “finally wears the yellow.”
Jacobson continues praising the franchise and the film by stating she wasn’t sure what else she could do in her career to top it.
“It’s been the most personally gratifying experience of my entire life. I keep semi-joking that maybe I should retire because I just don’t know what I could possibly do that will ever be as good as this again.”
Logan & Wolverine comes to theatres on July 26.
