Exciting updates have emerged from the San Diego Comic-Con regarding Matt Reeves’ long-gestating The Batman – Part II.
At Comic-Con 2024, Reeves announced that filming for The Batman sequel is set to start in early 2025.
Colin Farrell is also officially confirmed to return as The Penguin for the sequel, following his solo spinoff series of the same name.
Robert Pattinson is set to reprise his role as the iconic DC superhero in The Batman sequel, which will be released in October, 2026. This sequel comes over four years after the premiere of The Batman, marking a new era for the dark knight.
The Batman – Part II will pick after the events of the HBO original series, The Penguin, with Colin Farrell returning as the titular character after the first film’s events.
The upcoming spinoff will address the power vacuum created by Carmine Falcone’s death at the hands of The Riddler.
While plot details for the sequel remain sketchy, the return of Farrell as the Penguin suggests a continuation of the gritty, noir-inspired world established in the first film.
Fans can expect to see more of the complex relationship between Batman and the Penguin, as well as the evolution of Gotham City’s criminal landscape.
When Warner Bros. announced The Batman Part II in April 2022, only Robert Pattinson was confirmed to return as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
However, it is expected that Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Zoë Kravitz will reprise their roles in the sequel.
