Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos seems to be working hard in training ahead of the new season.

Andrey Santos could be set to stay at Chelsea for the 2024/25 campaign after a very mixed season last term.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of it on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he only managed to play two games.

Following that unsuccessful stint at the City Ground, Santos then went on to join Strasbourg for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign. There, the Brazilian made 11 appearances and scored one goal — a much more productive loan spell.

Patrick Vieira gave Santos advice about the Premier League, and he will now be hoping that he gets the chance to apply it at Chelsea this upcoming season.

Andrey Santos working hard

One player who Santos may have to compete against for a spot in the new campaign is Renato Veiga.

Veiga recently joined Chelsea from Basel and recently responded to a picture that Santos shared on social media.

On Friday, the Brazilian posted on Instagram an image of him in training, captioning it “working in silence.”

Veiga was quick to comment underneath it, though the 20-year-old did not say much. In fact, all he posted in response was a shaking face emoji, which is sometimes used to express excitement.

As well as playing in central defence and at left-back, Veiga can also be used in midfield, hence why the 20-year-old could prove to be a threat to Santos this upcoming season. It certainly will be interesting to see where Enzo Maresca uses him if he is not loaned out.

Andrey Santos to get a chance in pre-season

With Santos currently training with the first-team players that the new Chelsea manager currently has available, it looks like he will get a chance in pre-season.

The Blues’ first game is against Wrexham next week, which you would expect the former Vasco da Gama man to play.

Because of Euro 2024 and the Copa America, Maresca has midfielders missing, presenting Santos with a big opportunity. Santos feels he’s a good fit for Maresca, but he, of course, has to prove that.
