Christian Eriksen has given Manchester United an indication of what to expect from Rasmus Hojlund.
The Denmark international is closing in on a move to Old Trafford after a fee was agreed with Atalanta.
United have struck a £72million deal with the Italian club for the striker, who has already agreed personal terms.
But he will not be the only Dane in the side as Eriksen knows his compatriot well from international duty.
And he has given United fans some insight into what to expect from Hojlund ahead of his mega-money move.
“He has developed a lot in the last year from when I first saw him with the national team,” Eriksen said. “Now he’s a strong number nine.
“I suppose we don’t get enough media attention in Denmark, so that’s why people outside do not know enough.
“I haven’t seen that many games for Atalanta but I know how they play and he fitted in well there – so yeah, he’s a very good player.”
Hojlund will become the third signing of the summer by Erik ten Hag, who had been desperate to sign a striker.
Andre Onana and Mason Mount have already joined earlier in the transfer window.
The 20-year-old registered 10 goals and two assists in his debut season for Atalanta in the Serie A last season.
But his hold-up play and pace have been indicated as two of his best assets and as one of Europe’s best youngsters.
Atalanta have already signed a replacement in El Bilal Toure, which could hasten a deal.
The Red Devils would ideally like Hojlund in as soon as possible with the start of next season already getting closer.
United have two more friendlies to play, the first against Lens and the second against Athletic Bilbao.
Ten Hag’s men get the Premier League season underway on August 14 where they face Wolves.
