Chelsea have confirmed the players that have travelled to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour, but one selection has really irritated some of the fanbase.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca has taken a 28-man squad to the US for five upcoming friendly matches.

Unfortunately, Football.London explains that Chelsea’s summer signing Omari Kellyman is absent from the pre-season trip because of a small injury. Similarly, Blues goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is missing from pre-season because of his own injury problem, it’s been claimed by journalist Nizaar Kinsella on X.

Chelsea fans frustrated by Armando Broja inclusion on pre-season tour

Chelsea confirmed via their official website the 28 players that have jetted out to the United States this week.

Armando Broja, 22, has been listed as one of the forwards in the squad. He’s back around the group after a frustrating loan spell at Fulham in the second half of last season, where he scored zero goals in just eight games.

Many Blues supporters on X have vented their frustration at Broja making the final cut for the pre-season tour.

One fan said: “How did Broja make the team that flew to America for pre-season?”

Another claimed: “I am still baffled how Broja sneaked on the plane.”

One supporter posted: “Still don’t understand why Broja is on the plane but we will see.”

Another shared: “Why is Broja still here?”

Armando Broja still linked with exit

Broja may be part of Chelsea’s squad during pre-season, but there’s still plenty of rumours suggesting he may leave Stamford Bridge before the summer transfer window shuts.

According to The Express in June, Chelsea are expected to sell £30m-rated Broja amid interest from clubs such as AC Milan, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stuttgart.

Elsewhere, it’s been reported by Tutto Juve that Juventus are interested in signing Broja. The Italian giants are actually looking at a loan with an option to buy.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Broja can turn the tide during pre-season and convince the new head coach to keep him. The fact that the centre-forward is currently with the squad should at least give him some hope.

Broja is a product of the Chelsea academy and someone who’s played 38 first-team matches for the club, but he may need a new home to get back on track after a long-term injury.
