Chelsea supporters are itching for their side to make some more transfers that will impact their side immediately.

While a couple of additions have been made, many have been left waiting for the big-name addition to sell the shirts at Stamford Bridge.

Tosin Adarabioyo has impressed in early training sessions, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is expected to hit the ground running under the manager who he enjoyed his best season under previously, Enzo Maresca.

It is believed though that they are by no means one yet. Chelsea reportedly want three more signings before the end of this month.

It looks as if one of the names they wanted has actually just made a move to another club, in the form of Mats Wieffer.

Chelsea tried to hijack Mats Wieffer move

The Dutch international has just joined Brighton for a fee of around £25m, however this did not escape the Blues’ interest.

According to Alex Crook, the Blues made a late move to bring him in, however his switch to the South Coast was already too far down the line.

He said to Premier League All Access: “They’ve signed Wieffer, who actually made his name playing under Arne Slot. I’m told that Chelsea actually late on made an effort to try and hijack that deal, but he was already too far down the line.”

Given the fact Chelsea are currently well stocked in the middle of the park, it looks perhaps unlikely that they would pay too much attention to this particular transfer.

Conor Gallagher entering final year of contract

However, the need to sign a central midfielder could come back if they reach a deal to sell Conor Gallagher.

The England international is now entering the final year of his contract, and there have so far been no real efforts to extend his time at the club.

There will be an appetite to not lose him on a free though, and that could mean they really accelerate a move away for him in the near future.
