Chelsea appear to be exploring the possibility of signing one attacker from an elite European club this summer.

Chelsea may not sign another centre-forward before the transfer window closes. While the Blues have been in the market for one, they have already brought in youngster Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

Guiu is now set to remain at Stamford Bridge, a development that could impact Chelsea’s search for a striker.

The Blues, though, could add another winger to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Chelsea have missed out on Michael Olise, now officially a player of Bayern Munich, but there are other wide men who the club are currently looking at.

Earlier this week, it was reported that both Tottenham and Chelsea are interested in Federico Chiesa.

Chelsea’s interest could now be about to get more serious by the looks of things, with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that they have been in contact with his agent over a potential transfer this summer.

Juventus bought Chiesa from Fiorentina in a deal worth up to £54m. However, Chelsea should be able to get him for much cheaper.

The 26-year-old’s contract expires in 2025, so Juventus will not be in the strongest position when it comes to negotiations.

Federico Chiesa could be a bargain for Chelsea

The actual price that Juventus could end up selling Chiesa for could be around €25m (£21m), according to La Gazzetta dello Sport’s report.

Chiesa is an experienced Italy international who can play in multiple positions in the frontline.

As per FBref, the Juventus star has ranked in the 97th percentile for progressive carries and the 84th for successful take-ons among forwards over the last year.

Ultimately, Chiesa is quite a seasoned and skilful attacker. If Chelsea can get him for £21m this summer, then the club and Enzo Maresca can be delighted about that piece of business.
