In the last summer transfer window, Chelsea let a lot of first-team players go, which included some big names.

For example, the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic all departed Stamford Bridge.

Some of those moves have not worked out, with it being reported that Manchester United could sell Mount after just one year.

However, some players have certainly thrived since leaving Chelsea. Havertz had a good season at Arsenal, coming up with 20 goal contributions in the Premier League last season, while Kante’s form at Al-Ittihad saw him win a recall to the France national team for Euro 2024.

Former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf now wants to see the Blues re-sign one individual who left the club last year.

Frank Leboeuf wants to see N’Golo Kante in a Chelsea shirt again

Kante is a target for Chelsea’s London rivals West Ham United. In fact, West Ham have seen one offer for Kante rejected already.

According to Sky Sports, though, a bid of £20m may be enough to convince Al-Ittihad to sell the midfielder this summer.

With West Ham targeting Kante, Leboeuf would now like to see Chelsea make a move for him. Speaking about the 33-year-old on ESPN, the Chelsea legend said: “When I saw the article I said, what? Why Chelsea don’t call him back? The guy is from Chelsea.

“We don’t want to see him at West Ham, with all due respect, and I think if West Ham can get him, you know, that’s a very good catch because that guy has proven during the Euros that he was still at the top.”

Chelsea will not re-sign N’Golo Kante

It is true, Kante performed well at Euro 2024. On WhoScored, he was the fifth-highest rated player in France’s squad with an average match rating of 7.03.

However, Kante is now in his 30s and had a lot of injury problems towards the end of his Chelsea career.

There is just no way Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital would sanction bringing the Frenchman back to west London this summer.

Enzo Maresca is not short of midfield options either. The new Chelsea manager currently has the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall whom he can call upon.

While some Chelsea fans would perhaps like to see Kante return to Stamford Bridge, it is something that is not going to happen.
